Cadets Classes (Grades 6-8 / Ages 11-14)
Our Cadets program for non-native French speakers focuses on developing oral communication skills, including speaking and listening comprehension. It encourages interactions in French with role playing everyday tasks to awaken young students’ interests and imagination. Students will build a solid foundation in reading and writing in French at a beginner, advanced beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels while learning strategies to become a more independent foreign language learner.
Classes are structured into three primary levels: Beginner, Advanced Beginner, and Intermediate.
Complete Beginners start at Level Beginner. If your child has had prior exposure to French but hasn’t previously been enrolled in L’Alliance New York language classes, they must take a placement test.
Contact languagecenter@lallianceny.org (Manhattan Campus) or montclair@lallianceny.org (Montclair Campus) to schedule a test.
Juniors Classes (Grades 9-12 / Ages 14-18)
Our Junior program for non-native French speakers is designed to help students develop strong oral communication skills and prepare them for academic success. Through engaging role-playing activities that simulate everyday life, students will have the opportunity to practice speaking and listening in a fun and interactive environment. In addition to oral communication, the program also focuses on building a solid foundation in reading and writing. Students will learn essential grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension strategies at their respective levels. Our program will equip students with the tools and techniques they need to study effectively on their own, both inside and outside the classroom. Our Junior Program can also support teens who are aiming to pass AP French exams. By providing rigorous instruction and ample practice opportunities, we will help students develop the skills and knowledge necessary to excel on these challenging exams.
