The Montclair Campus of L’Alliance New York offers in-person group classes in flexible formats, including 10-week and 5-week sessions, as well as workshops [link to Grammar Workshop Page], across four sessions [link to session dates] per year: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.
Classes meet on Weekday or Saturday and are offered at convenient times in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Classes run for 3 hours once a week. Workshops’ length may vary.
Enjoy flexible, engaging, and fully immersive classes led by expert native-speaking French teachers, along with enriching cultural and social experiences.
We also offer private lessons in person or online tailored to your needs and schedule.
Complete beginners start at Level A1.1. If you have learned French before, take a quick placement test to find your ideal class or workshop. Returning students can easily continue where they left off.

General French Classes
Immerse yourself in French language and culture through our General French classes that help you develop all major language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Complete beginners start at Level A1.1. If you don’t know your level of French, we can help determine your exact level of proficiency and help choose the class that’s perfect for you.
Our General French curriculum is structured around the five proficiency levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Each level is divided into 30-hour sublevels, allowing students to progress at a comfortable pace while building their skills in a clear and structured way.

Conversation & Grammar Classes
Deepen your knowledge of French with a class that combines guided conversation and targeted grammar support. Practice speaking through everyday topics while instructors introduce and review key grammar points in context to improve accuracy, clarity, and confidence.
Grammar Workshops
Deepen your knowledge of French with flexible, one-time workshops focused on specific grammar points. These 3-hour sessions can be taken alongside a full class or as a standalone option. Each workshop offers an intensive, focused experience with clear explanations and guided practice, emphasizing speaking and pronunciation to strengthen accuracy and build confidence.
