Cned* Program
French Language Arts for Native-French Speakers

The Manhattan Campus and the Montclair Campus of L’Alliance New York offer an in-person program for native French-speaking students (ages 5-11) using the Cned* curriculum. We focus exclusively on the French language arts curriculum provided by Cned, without covering other subjects such as math, science, or social studies

The rigorous Cned* program requires the assistance of a qualified adult or professional educator to lead students through the programs. Our French-speaking teachers guide students in a group setting, ensuring a comprehensive and interactive learning experience aligned with French national standards.

Who is it for?

This program is specifically designed for children (ages 5 to 11, U.S. school grades K to 5) who are native French speakers or have an equivalent level of mastery. This program is for your child if:

  • They speak French with one or two parent(s) at home.
  • They previously attended school in a Francophone country.
  • They attended a French immersion program in the US or abroad.

This program is NOT for children learning French as a Foreign Language (beginners to intermediate).

How does it work?

The Cned* program is not a self-taught or autonomous program; it requires adult guidance and supervision.

Cned* provides all the learning material, developed by the Ministry of French Education and based on their official curriculum for French Language Arts.

L’Alliance provides teachers who will offer their expertise and ensure students stay on track through weekly tutoring (3 hours a week for 30 weeks). Additionally, our teachers ensure the quality of the Cned* program by administering evaluations (at least 7 evaluations each school year) and uploading them to the Cned* online platform for assessment by Cned* expert teachers who evaluate the student work, providing valuable feedback and remediation advice to maximize student learning. L’Alliance and Cned* teachers work together to ensure a seamless evaluation process and provide students with comprehensive feedback for improvement. Our teachers work collaboratively with Cned*’s evaluators to ensure students receive personalized support.

This program is designed to provide a rigorous French language education, similar to what students would experience in an accredited French school. This requires a strong commitment from both students and parents. We recommend parents honestly assess their ability to provide support with homework, and sometimes additional explanations even if they have been provided in class.
