Directed by René Laloux (Fantastic Planet) and designed by Jean Giraud (MÅ“bius), The Time Masters is a visually stunning existential space adventure. After his parents are killed on the dangerous planet Perdide, young Piel survives by keeping in touch with Jaffar, a pilot escorting an exiled royal family. Jaffar recruits Silbad, a guide familiar with the planet’s hazards, to help them navigate their journey. Along the way, they encounter strange and mysterious creatures and beings, who may reveal their true origins.

This restored 7-minute short, rarely shown to audiences, serves as the pilot for the cult hit Gandahar, whose restored version was screened at last year’s Animation First. The film introduces the peaceful planet of Gandahar, where inhabitants lead tranquil lives focused on agriculture, reading, and leisure, unaware of the robotic threats from another world. Special thanks to Henri Choukroun, Anatole Gillet and Philippe Caza.
This film will be preceded by a 20-second bumper film created by Brassart-MOPA students.
