This program of shorts puts the spotlight on the work of award-winning Swiss filmmaker and editor Marina Rosset, along with selected works from her contemporaries. A mid-career artist, Rosset has created poetic, magical and stunningly beautiful films. Together, the program speaks to the originality of Rosset’s work and the wealth of contemporary Swiss animation.
Following the screening, Marina Rosset will discuss her work and the role of Swiss animation with Biljana Labovic.

Marina Rosset
Born in 1984 in Lausanne, SZ, Marina Rosset studied film at the École nationale supérieure des arts visuels de la Cambre in Brussels and graduated from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. She has made several short films, including Après le chat (2005), Botteoubateau (2007), Laterarius (2010), La fille aux feuilles (2014) which screened at the Locarno Film Festival, and La Reine des Renards (2022). Rosset is also a film editor. In that capacity she worked on several short films and on the feature My Life as a Zucchini (2016).
Biljana Labovic
Biljana is an award-winning animation professional based in New York. In her current role as an Animation Director at TED-Ed, she has been directing short animated educational videos and ensuring the animation quality of all TED-Ed content for over a decade. Her professional animation journey began in 1999 with Bill Plympton, where she initially started by hand-painting cells on a feature film Mutant Aliens. Biljana played a pivotal role in transitioning the studio to digital production, producing Bill’s Academy Award-nominated “Guard Dog,” along with many other short films and features.
Biljana’s other noteworthy collaborations include an animated segment in the Academy Award-winning documentary short film “Freeheld” by Cynthia Wade, as well as humble contributions to films by Faith and Emily Hubley, including Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Besides her production work, Biljana had also enjoyed teaching animation at the School of Visual Arts.
