Le Boucher
The Butcher
Schedule
Tuesday, February 10, 2026
Run Time: 90 minutes
Claude Chabrol, 1970, 90min, DCP
Starring Stéphane Audran, Jean Yanne, Antonio Passalia
Chabrol dedicates his film “to the people of Trémolat, in Périgord,” and sets the stage with a large village wedding where Hélène, the local schoolteacher, meets Paul, returning home to take over his family’s butcher business after years away as a soldier who has seen, and likely inflicted, terrible brutalities. Against the provincial background, a courtship begins, and a few locals start turning up dead. Hélène suspects Paul, but the ultimate suspense lays in how she will react when the murderer is revealed.
