On the surface, the Desvallées have the perfect life: friends, wealth, a precious young son, and a beautiful country home outside Paris. But beneath the shiny façade lies a marriage that has long since lost its romantic spark, and bored trophy wife Hélène (Stéphane Audran) has taken a lover (Maurice Ronet). Suspicious husband Charles (Michel Bouquet) pays his rival a visit—a confrontation that doesn’t quite go as planned. A chilly tale of betrayal and murder with an ending that is pure perfection.
