Letourneur took a more nuanced turn for her third feature, a quietly radiant romantic comedy about an eccentric young woman (Lolita Chammah) who doesn’t know how to be alone but is left all by herself in a large house in the remote countryside after her boyfriend takes off. She irritates the locals while seeking company and eventually latches onto a scruffy recluse (musician Benjamin Biolay) who lives peacefully in a tiny shed with his adorable dog. She disrupts his routine but also awakens a desire in him to live more fully, while she learns the joys of the simple life. Theirs is a charming, unlikely pairing that has no business working as harmoniously as it does.
