“A fantastic and feverish animated film of great visual beauty, which explores a contemporary reflection on civic engagement.” – Télérama
After a failed armed attack on wealthy landowners, Hélène abandons her companions and flees into the forest. Manon, one of her friends and accomplices, returns to haunt her. Hélène must revisit her convictions and choices, in a valley where metamorphoses and great upheavals disrupt the natural order of things. After Ville Neuve (2018) and Archipelago (2021, Animation First 2021), Félix Dufour-Laperrière’s new film continues his exploration of contemporary art and cinema, and his experimentation with hand-drawn animation. Visually stunning, Death Does Not Exist grapples with existential and eminently pressing questions of personal commitment and choices.
