CreativeMornings

It all started in 2008 when Tina Roth Eisenberg invited the creative community of NYC to join her in her co-working space for coffee and breakfast, once a month. She wanted an easy way for her creative community in NYC to come together, on a regular basis. Over the past 16 years, CreativeMornings has organically grown into the world’s largest face-to-face creative community, gathering creatives in over 200+ cities and 67 countries every month. Many describe CreativeMornings events as a wave of heart-forward optimism that is so moving, you can’t help but participate.
But most of all, CreativeMornings is a celebration of an unwavering belief in each other’s potential. Every month, 1,000 volunteers bring 20k+ creative types together for free breakfast and a talk. More over on the CreativeMornings about page.
CreativeMornings/New York is the founding chapter of CreativeMornings.
Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky

Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky is currently at work on two books – one about the impact of algorithms on how we think of storytelling—Digital Fiction for Duke University Press, and The Future of Food, about the impact of AI on how we think of the production of food in the 21st Century. He was Artist in Residence at Yale University Center for Collaborative Arts and Media (2023-2024). He is a composer, multimedia artist, and writer whose work engages audiences in a blend of genres, global culture, and environmental and social issues. Miller has collaborated with an array of recording artists, including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Metallica, Chuck D from Public Enemy, Steve Reich, and Yoko Ono amongst many others. His 2018 album, DJ Spooky Presents: Phantom Dancehall, debuted at #3 on Billboard Reggae.
His large-scale, multimedia performance pieces include “Rebirth of a Nation,” Terra Nova: Sinfonia Antarctica, commissioned by the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and Seoul Counterpoint, written during his 2014 residency at Seoul Institute of the Arts. His multimedia project Sonic Web premiered at San Francisco’s Internet Archive in 2019. He was the inaugural artist-in-residency at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s The Met Reframed, 2012-2013.
In 2014, he was named National Geographic Emerging Explorer. He produced Pioneers of African American Cinema, a collection of the earliest films made by African American directors, released in 2015. Miller’s artwork has appeared in the Whitney Biennial, The Venice Biennial for Architecture, the Miami/Art Basel fair, and many other museums and galleries.
Musical Opener Emily Brown

Brooklyn-based and California-bred, Emily Jeanne Brown writes “nostalgic and heartfelt [songs]”(NPR Music) about shifting identities and searching for home. Influenced by artists like Lucinda Williams, Jenny Lewis and Sharon Van Etten, Brown’s music ranges from intimate, esoteric folk to Americana-infused indie-rock, while always keeping storytelling at the center. After her minimal but visceral 2020 cover of Springsteen’s ‘i’m on fire’ garnered tens of thousands of streams, in 2024 Americana Highways praised Brown’s 3-song Nina EP for “music that plays out in the imagination and vocals that sound like a songbird at dawn”. She has since shared stages with Brian Dunne (of Fantastic Cat), Katie Martucci (of The Ladles), Marty O’Reilly, Chris Trapper and Hayley Hendrickx. Her debut full-length record, Coaster, produced by Nan Macmillan, will be released July 8th through the Brooklyn-based indie label Sunken Living Room.
