Professional Panel – Creating Animation with AI: Opportunities and Challenges

  • Boris Labbé

    Trained at the École supérieure d’art de Tarbes and then at the École de cinéma d’animation d’Angoulême, the work of Boris Labbé quickly toured the world, whether in contemporary art exhibitions, at international film festivals, or during audiovisual concerts. His latest short film, The Fall, was selected for the Special Screening at the Critics’ Week of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. In 2020, he collaborated with the choreographer Angelin Preljocaj and designed the video scenography of the show Swan Lake.

    Labbé’s films and video installations have earned him some fifty awards and distinctions around the world, including the Golden Nica Animation at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, the Grand Prix at the Japan Media Arts Festival in Tokyo, and—most recently—the Grand Prix at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, for his 2024 project Ito Meikyū.

    Ito Meikyū, produced by Sacrebleu Productions, is Labbé’s first virtual reality project. His other recent piece, Glass House, is a video scenography in collaboration with composer Lucas Fagin and produced by the Ensemble Cairn.

Dimitri Vallein’s films have been featured in prestigious festivals, and they continue to captivate audiences with their innovative and heartfelt storytelling.

  • Ron Dyens

    Ron Dyens, a French Academy Award®-nominated producer and director, founded Sacrebleu Productions in 1999, earning top prizes globally for animated films, including a Palme d’Or, César Awards, and Annecy’s Audience Prize. Over 100 short films produced by SACREBLEU have been selected in 2,500+ festivals, with feature films like Marona’s Fantastic Tale, My Sunny Maad, and Sirocco and the Kingdom of the Winds gaining critical acclaim and commercial success. Dyens is a member of AMPAS, EFA, and the Académie des César and has received the Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite. Sacrebleu continues to innovate with feature films, series, and award-winning VR projects such as Ito Meiku by Boris Labbé which won the Grand Prize at the Mostra (2024). His latest production, Flow by Gints Zilbalodis has won multiple international awards, was part of the Official Selection at Un Certain Regard at Cannes Film Festival, is nominated for a Golden Globe, and is Latvia’s official entry for the International Feature Film Oscar.
