In-school workshop series
Monday, March 31, 2025 - Saturday, April 19, 2025
This workshop series is developed and taught by dancer-choreographer Thierry Thieû Niang and visual artist Roxane Revon. Over two weeks, the artists and educators will work with preschool participants on creating movement and artwork inspired by plant life. Rhizomes combines dance and visual arts, working with physical materials and gestures related to root systems, seeds, and growth. Participants develop fine motor skills, spatial awareness, and community collaboration.
In April 2025, Roxane Revon and Thierry Thieû Niang lead in-school workshops at the Language & Laughter Studio (LLS) in Brooklyn, as well as a two-week session at L’Alliance New York’s Manhattan Preschool.
Presented by L’Alliance New York in partnership with the Language & Laughter Studio.

The Language and Laughter Studio (LLS) is a Brooklyn-based French immersion preschool and language center, located in the vibrant heart of downtown Brooklyn, New York. Founded by Pascale Setbon, LLS is dedicated to nurturing critical thinking, kindness, and humanity, while equipping tomorrow’s global citizens with practical tools for the future.
Situated in Clinton Hill, the school offers a warm and enriching environment for children ages 1 to 5, as well as creative, play-based after-school programming for elementary-aged students. As a dynamic Francophone cultural center, LLS celebrates the rich diversity of the Francophone world and its Brooklyn community.
The Language and Laughter Studio’s expansion aims to create a space that not only encourages artistic experimentation but also serves as a hub for fostering a community rooted in arts, social justice, and environmental justice. Designed by architects Beth O’Neill and Chris McVoy, the school’s new home will host arts programming of the highest caliber, giving children the opportunity to engage with a diverse array of artistic experiences from around the world.
L’Alliance New York’s Preschool is a French immersion program for toddlers ages 2½ to 5 designed to foster learning as a multicultural exploration of curiosity. Part of L’Alliance New York, the Preschool was founded in 2012 at our Manhattan location to offer engaging French immersion instruction to the youngest French learners.
The Preschool’s mission is to provide a joyful, energetic entry into school life while also introducing kids to the French language, combining the best of French and American teaching methods in an environment that’s rich in diversity. We aim to help your child become independent, inquisitive, and open to new experiences through age-appropriate activities and group play that connects learning with excitement and community.
