L’Alliance New York partners with Studio in a School to provide visual arts education in NYC public elementary schools. Students in participating schools create artworks inspired by French-speaking artists whose work is currently on view at L’Alliance. Student artwork from the partnership will be exhibited at L’Alliance in the spring of 2026.
For the second installment of this exciting collaboration, students, artists and classroom teachers study the work of artists Clédat & Petitpierre. Opening on September 13, 2025, L’Alliance’s new exhibition Les tutomouves creates an immersive world from 240 vibrantly colorful foam pieces.
During the fall semester, students and teaching artists visit L’Alliance’s gallery to engage with Les tutomouves. After returning to their respective classrooms, Studio in a School instructors integrate the students’ experience at the gallery into their teaching curriculum, and each class launches an individual project. Using Les tutomouves’s bright colors, geometric shapes, and interactive qualities to inspire them, students will create their own artworks. Experienced teaching artists from Studio in a School guide the students’ exploration of materials and forms. During the spring semester of 2026, the young artists’ final works will be displayed at L’Alliance New York. The exhibition will be accompanied by a celebration for students, teachers, and their families.
