Bastille Day Garden Party

It wouldn’t be Bastille Day in Montclair without the joyful and festive Garden Party at the Van Vleck House & Gardens! This year’s event will take place from 5 to 9 pm. The evening will culminate in an elegant gathering filled with gourmet food, fine wine and other refreshing drinks, live music, and a touch of Parisian charm. Exciting door prizes will be awarded, including your chance to win a dream vacation for two to Cannes! 

Gourmet Feast 

This year’s buffet campagnard will be curated by Chef Alex, whose culinary journey began in Alexandria, Egypt. After moving to the United States in 1987, he trained in some of New York City’s most legendary kitchens, including Le Bernardin, Blue Hill, Gramercy Tavern, La Côte Basque, and Brasserie Les Halles. Chef Alex’s cooking is inspired by a blend of classical technique and global influences, shaped by his rich cultural background and world-class training. 

The buffet will feature an abundant array of amuse-bouches, pâtés, and charcuterie from Épicerie Boulud in New York. Guests will enjoy a variety of vibrant summer salads, savory tarts, and Mediterranean-inspired spreads, all paired with artisanal breads and a curated selection of fine cheeses. To finish, an assortment of miniature French desserts, cookies, and sweets will be served alongside carefully selected wines and refreshing drinks. 

Music & Dance 

Adding to the evening’s ambiance, Marie and her trio will perform live in the garden. A French singer and pianist with a captivating stage presence, Marie brings a wide-ranging repertoire that blends classic jazz, French chanson, Brazilian bossa nova, Latin rhythms, and timeless pop. Her music will set the perfect tone for a night of relaxed elegance and celebration.
