Cat burglary on the Riviera. Pure cinematic pleasure from first to last frames. Cary Grant in head-to-toe black, or red polka dot ascot. His leather loafers (without socks). Grace Kelly in a yellow halter at the beach, or an ice blue evening gown. Her Flying Nun hat. The costumes are the centerpiece. The Mediterranean, on the other hand—in all its vivid VistaVision beauty—is simply background. And isn’t that nice? While Cary Grant designed his own wardrobe, Edith Head indulged, imagining a masterwork for Kelly of chiffon, gold mesh and diamonds. — Durga Chew-Bose
