La femme de Jean
Schedule
Tuesday, July 8, 2025
Introduced by series co-programmer and film historian Éric Le Roy
Yannick Bellon, 1974, 100min, DCP
Starring France Lambiotte, Hippolyte Girardot, Tatiana Moukhine, James Mitchell
After many years together, Nadine (France Lambiotte) is suddenly left by her husband, Jean (Claude Rich), and feels her world is collapsing. Once the shock wears off, she begins to reassess and regain her life, including forming an adult relationship with her teenage son, now more of a roommate and confidant (Hippolyte Girardot). With delicate strokes, Bellon traces Nadine’s journey, capturing the shifts in her emotions through the seasons, and allowing the time needed for the quiet reconstruction of herself from “the wife of…” to her own identity.
