Presented in conjunction with Le Tambour de Soie (The Silk Drum), featured at L’Alliance New York’s Crossing The Line festival, French-based Japanese dancer and choreographer Kaori Ito will lead an engaging family dance workshop. Known for blending theatre, contemporary dance, and Japanese cultural influences, Ito is the director of the TJP Strasbourg, one of France’s premiere theaters for young audiences.
Le Tambour de Soie (The Silk Drum) will be presented at Japan Society on Fri, Oct 24 – Sat, Oct 25 as part of L’Alliance New York’s Crossing The Line Festival.

Kaori Ito
Kaori Ito (choreographer, co-creator, dancer) is a celebrated Japanese dancer and choreographer, based in Paris since 2003. She founded her company, Himé, in 2015. In the same year, she was awarded the Prix Nouveau Talent Chorégraphie by the SACD and made a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. In 2023, Ito was appointed as Director of the TJP, Centre Dramatique National de Strasbourg – Grand Est.
