Julien Rejl has been the General Delegate of the Directors’ Fortnight, the parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival, since 2022, where he oversees the festival’s artistic direction.
Former Head of Distribution at Capricci Films, he spent more than a decade championing distinctive voices in world cinema and collaborating with renowned filmmakers such as Abel Ferrara, Hong Sangsoo, Albert Serra, Wang Bing, Tsai Ming-liang, and Bi Gan.
He also supervised numerous restoration projects of works by Jean-Luc Godard, Maurice Pialat, Chantal Akerman, Ingmar Bergman, and Kenji Mizoguchi.
From its creation in 2015 until 2019, he curated the Sofilm Festival, born from the eponymous cinema magazine where he also worked as a film critic.
A graduate of La Fémis, ESCP Business School, and the Sorbonne’s Philosophy department, he combines rigor with curiosity, management with artistic vision.
His career draws a line between distribution, festivals, publishing, and criticism, always animated by the desire to bring films and audiences into dialogue.
