    Choreographer, performer, educator, writer Kimberly Bartosik creates viscerally provocative, ferociously intimate choreographic projects that critically, tenderly, and violently etch away at deeply distressing threads of our society. Her work has been commissioned by BAM Next Wave, L’Alliance NY’s Crossing The Line Festival, New York Live Arts, Torn Space Theater, ADF, LUMBERYARD, American Realness, and others. She has toured to Supersense: Festival of the Ecstatic (Australia), Bratislava in Movement (Slovakia), Wexner Arts Center, Dance Place, ADF, The Yard, MASS MoCA/Jacob’s Pillow, FlynnSpace, Bates Dance Festival, Columbia College, Centre Chorégraphique National de Franche-Comté à Belfort, Festival Rencontres Chorégraphique Internationales de Seine-Saint Denis, Artdanthe Festival, and others.

    Bartosik’s work has been supported by New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Dance Project; New York State Council on the Arts/NYSCA; Harkness Foundation for Dance; MAP Fund; the Doris Duke Foundation Performing Artist Recovery Fund in the New York Community Trust; FUSED (French-US Exchange in Dance), a program of the New England Foundation for the Arts in partnership with The Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the French American Cultural Exchange; Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, USArtists International; Foundation for Contemporary Arts; American Dance Abroad; and the Jerome Foundation. Other recognitions include a Bessie Award Honoree for Outstanding Production; a Guggenheim Fellowship in Choreography; Virginia B. Toulmin Women Leaders in Dance Fellowship at Center for Ballet and the Arts; and a Sybil Shearer Fellowship at the Ragdale Foundation.

    As a member of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, she received a Bessie Award for Exceptional Artistry and continues to work with the Cunningham Trust to stage Cunningham works and develop innovative programs for under-resourced youth. Bartosik currently teaches at SUNY/Purchase and acts as an Advisor at the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program where she also guest artists.
